چکیده

A significant amount of research has been reported on stainless steel tubular sections, while studies I- and C-sections remain relatively limited. This paper presents a comprehensive numerical study the response subjected to minor axis bending, with outstand flanges stress gradients. Numerical models are developed validated against test data austenitic sections under bending. Subsequently, parametric using standardised material properties austenitic, duplex ferritic grades, covering wide variety cross-section slendernesses, carried out expand structural performance data. The results used assess applicability Eurocode slenderness limits, revealing that Class limit 3 for gradient is overly conservative. Moreover, underestimates predicted bending strengths, whereas level accuracy consistency improves stocky when Continuous Strength Method used. Aiming address lack in design predictions slender particular focus placed their performance. It demonstrated elements gradients exhibit inelastic behaviour after compression have locally buckled. Inelastic buckling not considered current guidance, thus resulting conservative fundamentally incorrect strength predictions. An alternative method based plastic effective width concept proposed which leads more favourable less scattered • C- Design approaches assessed. Plastic presented.

Evolution of Microstructure and Residual Stress under Various Vibration Modes in 304 Stainless Steel Welds

Simultaneous vibration welding of 304 stainless steel was carried out with an eccentric circulating vibrator and a magnetic telescopic vibrator at subresonant (362 Hz and 59.3 Hz) and resonant (376 Hz and 60.9 Hz) frequencies. The experimental results indicate that the temperature gradient can be increased, accelerating nucleation and causing grain refinement during this process. During simulta...

Compressibility of 304 Stainless Steel Powder Metallurgy Materials Reinforced with 304 Short Stainless Steel Fibers

Powder metallurgy (P/M) technique is usually used for manufacturing porous metal materials. However, some P/M materials are limitedly used in engineering for their performance deficiency. A novel 304 stainless steel P/M material was produced by a solid-state sintering of 304 stainless steel powders and 304 short stainless steel fibers, which were alternately laid in layers according to mass rat...

Dynamic Recrystallization under Hot Deformation of a PH Stainless Steel

Dynamic recrystallization, DRX, behaviour of a precipitation hardened, PH, stainless steel was studied in connection with microstructural developments in a compression test. The experimental results showed that the dominant mechanism of softening is DRX, but at high strain rates and low temperatures, ie, high Zener-Holman parameter, Z, work hardening and dynamic recovery, DRV, produced a pancke...

Stainless Steel Type 316Ti

Allegheny Ludlum Type 316Ti (UNS S31635) is a titanium stabilized version of Type 316 molybdenum-bearing austenitic stainless steel. It is also known as DIN/EN designation No. 1.4571. The Type 316 alloys are more resistant to general corrosion and pitting/crevice corrosion than the conventional chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steels such as Type 304. They also offer higher creep, stress-ru...
